Our shop, conveniently located in Filey Town Centre, provides cycle hire, repairs & accessories to visitors and residents
***BUSINESS DURING COVID-19*** LAST UPDATED 3rd October
As a bike shop, we have been open throughout the current crisis and have been re-introducing the different elements of the business gradually, following government guidance and always with safety being paramount. We are now close to "business as usual" but here are a few things to note:
SERVICING/REPAIRS - With Covid-19 safety measures in place, the workshop is operating fully. We no longer specify that appointments are required to attend but booking in advance is highly recommended We are continuing to prioritise key-workers, who are reliant on their bikes to commute. Our mobile service is available and free within a 5 mile radius of Filey.
SALES - Full range of accessories, clothing & spares available. Clothing, gloves and helmets can be tried on with the fitting room fully disinfected between each use and items subject to 72 hours quarantine after being tried on. Our usual system of purchasing bikes from our catalogue system is suspended due to problems with the supply chain. We hope to be able to stock and supply bikes again soon.
HIRE - Our hire service is almost back to normal, with a few small changes. From 5th October, hire bikes can once again be collected from the shop. We have re-introduced part-day hire (up to 3 hours) but this is now only available on a "walk-in" basis without prior booking with 2pm being the latest start time. Our usual delivery/collection to/from accommodation is still available for all full day hires within a 5 mile radius of FIley. If you are outside our 5 mile radius, we will do our best to accommodate but, with delivery slots in demand for all our services, we may not be able to get out to you. Due to the uncertainty of these times, we are continuing to take advance bookings with no deposit required. We then contact you by phone 1 working day prior to the hire to confirm arrangements and take full payment, asking that you honour your bookings, if at all possible. Please note that the popular cinder track traffic-free cycle route between Scarborough and Whitby, ideally requires the use mountain bikes with suspension. It is an uncomfortable ride on any of our bikes at the moment and we are not permitting our e-bikes to be used on the track at all. We are continuing to monitor the condition of the track.
TUITION & EVENTS - Group and one-to-one tuition for both riding and cycle maintenance is available. Groups are limited to a maximum of 5 to each instructor and all sessions will be designed to incorporate the required social distancing. Each session is bespoke so please contact us to discuss your specific needs and the cost.
A FEW OTHER THINGS - We do our best to return your bike that same day when it has been booked in but, due to an ongoing problem with supply chain, this is not always possible and your bike may be with us a little longer than you would normally expect.
HYGIENE/SAFETY MEASURES - We are asking everyone who enters the shop to wear a mask, as is now required by law. We have a one-way system in place and still ask that customers adhere to the 2 metre distancing rule; pay by card where possible and to stand behind the sneeze screens when talking to the team. Hand santiser is available on entering and exiting the shop and we are continuing to regularly disinfect all surfaces and items that are touched. When we delivering/collecting, we are wearing gloves, disinfecting bikes and maintaining social distancing. We are reviewing how we operate regularly, based on the advice of the government and various governing bodies.Read More
