FOR REGULAR VISITORS TO THIS SECTION, PLEASE NOT THAT ALL ROUTES HAVE BEEN REVISED AND NEW RIDES ADDED. WE ARE WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FILEY TOURISM AND TRADE ASSOCIATION TO ENCOURAGE MORE PEOPLE TO CYCLE AND SO ALL MAPS ARE NOW HOSTED ON ITS WEBSITE. JUST FOLLOW THE LINK!
Filey and its surrounding area has a vast selection of fantastic cycle routes for all abilities. You can explore neighbouring towns and villages along the coast, or head inland to the treasure on our doorstep - The Yorkshire Wolds. The terrain is generally best suited to hybrd or road bikes, as most routes take you on shared cycle paths and minor, country roads.
We have worked with Filey Tourism and Trade Association to create free-to-download routes for residents and visitors, all avoiding busy roads where possible and all featuring points of interest and refreshment stops. Each suggested route has a short description of the ride, its distance and level. If you're a keen cyclist, who rides frequently or you cycle in a hilly/mountainous part of the country, don't pay too much attention to the levels as you are unlikely to find any of the routes "hard" and may wish to look at linking several of the routes together to create a more challenging ride to suit your ability.
You can find excellent off-road cycling in the North Yorkshire Moors or on the Cinder Track between Scarborough and Whitby. You can cycle to these areas but, for those wishing to save their energy for the tracks, we'd advise the short drive or train journey from Filey.
